Anterior Total Hip Replacements
The only approach to the hip which doesn't require cutting muscles or tendons to perform the operation. The anterior approach utilizes a natural interval between muscles on the front of your hip to gain access to the hip joint.
Because no muscles or tendons are cut and the posterior capsule remains intact the inherent stability of the joint is maintained. This removes the need for hip precautions following an anterior total hip replacement.
Components are able to be placed more accurately with the assistance of intra-operative fluoroscopy or use of Stryker Makoplasty Robot. By utilizing either of these two methods in component positioning there is a less likely risk of dislocation from component malposition.
Post-operatively you can expect immediate full weight bearing, no hip motion restrictions, and unrestricted activity. High impact activity is restricted though for at least the first 3 months.
Expectations:
Earlier Mobilization
Less Scarring
No post-operative motion restrictions
Reduced Dislocation Rates
Less Post-Operative Pain
Shorter Hospital Stay
